Officials say trials will continue on July 19 in Ludhiana; The district sports officials have said that after concluding the trials for PU colleges in Punjab, the trials for GNDU students will be held here.
A total of 240 players from local colleges, affiliated with Punjab University, participated in the trials organized by the state sports department at Guru Nanak Stadium here for admissions into different sports wings in the district.
The players, including 224 boys and 16 girls, gave tries for 18 matches, including hockey, judo, football, cycling, badminton, gymnastics, table tennis, etc.
According to officials, the trials would continue on July 19.
According to the sources, 300 players would be selected from colleges affiliated with the university in the state, and they would be paid ₹100-200 each a day for their supply by the sports department.

2 detained for selling drugs on Delhi University’s North Campus
Delhi police said on Monday they arrested a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman for possession of 1 kg of hash worth ₹1 crore, adding that the couple were famous for selling drugs on the north campus of the University of Delhi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Criminal Branch) Rohit Meena identified the pair as Shubham Malhotra alias Sunny, a resident of Mahipalpur and a resident of Vijay Nagar, Kirti. During questioning, Shubham told police he was from Delhi.

Man detained for posing as Muslim and posting derogatory messages in Kodagu: Police
Kodagu police arrested a man on Monday for posting objectionable messages about a Hindu goddess posing as a Muslim, officials said. Police said the arrested man was identified as Divin Devaiah, a resident of Kedamulluru in Virajpet taluk in Kodagu district. The accused had opened an account in the name of the Muslim youth and posted the messages.
