Cancer support group S’Ciders announces monthly afternoon tea meetings


A CANCER support charity has announced a new informal monthly meeting alongside a host of other events.

C’Siders supports anyone in the area affected by cancer, whether a patient, caregiver or friend.

Their meetings will take place on the first Thursday of every month at Anning House, Cross Road, Weymouth from 3.45pm and will offer afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

A C’Siders spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be working more closely with Anning House Care Home, following their recent charity gala in aid of C’Siders and their offer to host our After Teas. noon on the first Thursday of each month.

Their future meetings and guest speakers are as follows; July 18, Countryside Ranger Andy Elliot – Wildfires Around the World and Closer to Home, Moonfleet Bowls Club at 7 p.m.; August 4, afternoon tea, coffee and cake, Anning House at 3:45 p.m.; August 15, Steps to Wellness – Sandra Healy – A Q&A – What the service offers, how to access it, etc. Moonfleet Bowls Club at 7 p.m.; 1 September, afternoon tea, coffee and cake, Anning House at 3.45pm; Sept. 19, Beetle Drive at The Wyke Smugglers at 7 p.m.; October 6, afternoon tea, coffee and cake, Anning House at 3.45 p.m.; October 17, to be confirmed; Moonfleet Bowls Club at 7:00 p.m.; November 3, afternoon tea, coffee and cake, Anning House at 3.45 p.m.; November 21, Annual General Meeting, Moonfleet Bowls Club at 7 p.m.; 1 December, afternoon tea, coffee and cake, Anning House at 3.45 p.m.

The team also held table tennis on Monday afternoons from 2pm at the Wyke Regis Community and Sports Association, Ryemead Lane, which ‘continues to be a resounding success’. All abilities are welcome.

Additionally, C’Siders have announced that their application to Sport England for table tennis coaching has been successful – where they hope to run table tennis sessions with a coach on Friday afternoons in the fall of this year and will post details in due course.

Also offered is C’Fit, an exercise class that is more than just exercise for its members. The Cancer Rehab Exercise Program is for cancer patients and is led by Dawn, a qualified Level 4 Cancer Rehab Exercise Specialist. To join C’Fit, you need a recommendation from a general practitioner, CNS or other healthcare professional.

Dawn said: “Knowing that people get so much out of C’Fit classes makes me happy and that’s why I love my job!”
