Dhyey and Nidhi win Sub Junior crowns

Unranked Dhyey Jani of Bhavnagar and Nidhi Prajapati of Ahmedabad won the Sub Junior titles in the Gujarat State 2021 2nd Ranking Table Tennis Tournament (Phase I) in Valsad on Saturday.
In the junior boys (U-15) final, Dhyey came back from a 1-2 to beat second seed Harshvardhan Patel of Aravalli 11-7, 10-12, 8-11, 11-8, 11 -8, 11 -5 to win the title. Nidhi, fourth seed, edged her teammate and second seed Pratha Parmar 11-7, 6-11, 11-4, 11-6, 11-7 to win the junior girls (U-15) title.
In the semifinals, Dhyey shocked seed Himansh Dahiya from Ahmedabad 11-7, 11-6, 12-14, 11-6, 3-11, 11-6 to seal the final place. In the second semi-final, Harshvardhan came back twice from behind to beat third seed Arya Kataria of Ahmedabad 11-9, 8-11, 7-11, 11-5, 5-11, 11-6, 12 -10.
Himansh settled for third place with an 11-3, 11-6, 11-9 victory over teammate Arya.
In the semifinals, Nidhi defeated eighth seed Jiya Trivedi of Ahmedabad 9-11, 7-11, 6-11, 11-6, 12-10, 13-11, 11-2. In the second semi-final, Pratha defeated third seed Riya Jayswal of Bhavnagar 3-11, 11-8, 11-4, 11-3, 11-4.
Jiya settled for third place with an 11-2, 11-5, 11-7 victory over Riya.
Meanwhile, in the first round of the sixth seed of the Hopes Girls (U-11) category, Surat’s Daniya Godil defeated Valsad’s Jenisha Jhunjhunwala 11-1, 11-5, 11-3, while the fifth seed Khwaish Lotia of Ahmedabad defeated Tanisha Deputy of Sura 11-4, 11-4, 11-13, 11-4. Fourth seed Richa Rawat of Surat beat Nyasha Mehta of Valsad 11-4, 11-9, 11-7 while Rashida Dagniwala of Surat beat Jeevika Patel 11-5, 11-4, 11-1.
