Hana Gouda defeats Dina Mishref to advance to African table tennis final

National table tennis player Hana Gouda of Al-Ahly Sporting Club defeated Africa’s number one Dina Meshref in the semi-final of the African Table Tennis Championship.

The 13-year-old won the game 4-2 to advance to the tournament final.

Gouda advanced to the semi-finals after beating Zamalek club’s Farah Abdel Aziz 4-2 in the quarter-finals.

In the second match of the semi-finals, Yousra Helmy, another Egyptian player, will face her Egyptian compatriot Maryam Al-Hudaybi.

Gouda has topped the World Under-15 rankings three times and helped Ahly’s success in the Table Tennis League last season.

She also recently won the Portuguese International Championship in the Under-12 and Under-15 competitions, as well as bronze at the World Confederations Championship, a feat unprecedented in Egyptian table tennis history.

Meshref is one of the first Egyptian players to become a professional table tennis player. She started her professional career in Turkey, then moved to the German TSV Langstadt.

Dina currently plays in the French table tennis league, has competed in three Olympic tournaments and is the first Egyptian player to appear in the list of the world’s 50 best players.
