Beginning of the training camp for U-13 table tennis (girls and boys)

TUENSANG, JUNE 23 (MExN): The inauguration program of Khelo India Centre, Tuensang was held at the District Sports Office Hall, Tuensang on June 23rd. At the same time, training for under-13 table tennis for boys and girls has also started.

Tuensang District Table Tennis Association (TDTTA) congratulated the winners and special guest, ThungchanbemoTungoe, NPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang presented awards to Yimtisenla and Sangmai Tola for achieving gold in the doubles category (girls) in the 13th Inter District “Catch Them Young” tournament. Yimtisenla also took bronze in the singles category.

The program was led by I Imsejungla while the invocation prayer was delivered by Ronglikhum, Youth Pastor, Sangtam Baptist Lithro, Tuensang.

The welcome speech was delivered by the President of TDTTA and the opening speech was delivered by Rokokhotso, Tuensang District Sports Officer.

DSO highlighted the goals and objectives of Khelo India and encouraged the players to seize these opportunities to improve their skills and shape their talents.

A special song was introduced by Hepila while a brief speech was delivered by the special guest.

Tungoe in his speech expressed his gratitude to the champions and encouraged the players to take him as an example to excel in sports. However, he also reminded that they should also give equal importance to their studies.

He said Nagas are apprehensive about taking up sports as a profession and even parents are reluctant to see their children taking up sports as a profession as many sports are injury prone. However, he pointed out that table tennis as a sport does not cause many injuries and players should tell their parents about it. He also mentioned that in order to take up sport as a profession, they must start early and develop it, emphasizing that nothing should be taken lightly but be serious in approaching their interest.
“Be serious and focus on your skills, you shouldn’t play just for fun,” he said.
Tungoe also said that playing sports is beneficial in many ways. He said: “It improves our concentration, we have a peaceful sleep after playing, it improves our social interactions, you become more creative, refreshes our mind, there are many other examples that are beneficial for playing sports.”
He later said Khelo India Centre, Tuensang opened while playing a game of table tennis with the district sports officer.
