Men’s Ritvik Simple Bags; Iknoor wins women’s singles titles

JAMMU, September 17: The brilliant performances of Ritvik Gupta and Iknoor helped win the men’s and women’s singles titles by beating Jayesh Singh and Ragini by 3 games to zero and 3 to 2 respectively in the 44th Open Tennis Championship of Jammu District table, played at Indoor Hall MA stadium, here today.
The men’s final was a fierce competition with both players giving their all as the match stretched to the last game with Ritvik closing on the last point to win the deciding match 11-9 and ultimately the game.
SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli who was the main guest on the occasion, attended the final match and distributed the prizes among the winners. He congratulated the organizers on a successful tournament in these difficult times of pandemic and praised the sportsmanship and the efforts made by the participants as well as their parents.
In the junior boys final, Ritvik beat Ayaan by 3-0, while in the boys sub-juniors final, Ritvik defeated Lakshay by 3-0 and in the junior boys final, Sarthak defeated Ritvik by 3-1, while in the junior girls final, Ragini defeated Iknoor by 3-2, while in the men’s final, Ritvik defeated Jayesh by 3-0 and in the women’s singles, Iknoor defeated Ragini by 3-2 and in the veteran men’s final, JR Kalsi defeated Mahesh Khajuria by 3-2.
The matches were refereed by Vasu Dewan, Sandeep Khadotra and Gurvinder Singh Sasan.
Personalities as well as leaders of the Association concerned, in particular Dr Ratnakar Sharma, Satbir Singh, Rajan Sharma, IP Singh, Satish Gupta, Ajay Sharma, Saleem Bandey, Vikas Gupta, Sanjeev Gupta and Narinder Singh were also present during the matches. final.
