“Novak Djokovic probably took 5,000 photos,” says Croatian star

Novak Djokovic wrote a new page in Roland Garros history a month ago when he became the first player of the open era to have won all four Grand Slam tournaments at least twice. The Serbian phenomenon went on to win his sixth Wimbledon title, reaching 20 Majors and tying the record shared by eternal rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

The world number 1 has a serious chance of reaching the ‘Calendar Golden Slam’ this year, which is why he has decided to travel to Tokyo to compete in the Olympic Games. The 34-year-old Belgradois had no trouble regulating the Bolivian Hugo Dellien in his debut in the heatwave of the wonderful Japanese ensemble.

Nole, who aims to win his very first gold medal, is one of the most popular figures in the Olympic Village, so much so that a myriad of athletes have lined up to take a photo with him. Among them is Frane Kojic, who represents Croatia in table tennis.

Interviewed by ‘Sporstke Novosti’, Kojic revealed that he ran into Djokovic almost by accident.

Frane Kojic opens up on Novak Djokovic

“I managed to take a photo with Novak Djokovic. There are an invisible number of people around him, he probably took 5,000 photos,” Kojic said.

“I approached him and said, ‘Novak, may I have a picture with you, that’s the only reason I qualified for the Olympics.’ He laughed and said, ‘Good sure! ”, added Frane Kojic. Derwael recently shared a photo on Instagram of herself doing the splits with Djokovic.

“When @djokernole asks for a photo, you can’t refuse,” she joked. Meanwhile, Iranian basketball player Amir Arsalan has revealed that he missed a golden opportunity to take a selfie with Djokovic. “Can’t believe I missed @DjokerNole last night he was relaxing near their resort (less than 10 yards away) in the same spot maybe tonight? I need this pic if he will you pleases, “he wrote on Twitter.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are more than a gold medal for Djokovic. He is aiming for the Golden Calendar Slam this year which he will only be able to reach if he succeeds at the Tokyo Olympics as well as the 2021 US Open. Djoker has already won 3 Grand Slam titles this year after his recent success in the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.

If he wins Olympic gold and the 2021 US Open title, the Serbian will become the first male player to complete the Golden Calendar Slam in sports history. With this, he will also become the second player to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single year after Rod Laver in the Open era. The Australian legend did the same in 1969.
