There is not a cricketer or football player among the 15 rising sports stars who make up this year’s City of Melville Youth Sports Scholarship winners.
Sisters Jasmine and Chelsea Wu already rank among WA’s top table tennis players while Chantelle Wheatley traveled to Budapest with Australia’s Artistic Swimming Team in June for the World Synchronized Swimming Championships.
In a show of sports diversity, the roster also includes a ninja warrior competitor, a cross-country and triathlon gunslinger, a male netballer and even a trampoline high flyer.
All 15 scholarship recipients receive a free 12-month membership to LeisureFit Centers in the City of Melville, where they can access facilities including the gym, sauna, spa and classes to help them with their athletic endeavors.
