Queen Ethelburga’s College and Faculty Students and Staff Celebrate More Success

Students and staff at Queen Ethelburga’s College and Faculty celebrate another successful year, after the results of the 2021 A level and BTEC exams were published.

In 2021, study-oriented college students achieved 85% A * / A at A level (96% A * / B). The Faculty, which offers a wider range of academic, creative and professional courses, achieved 77% percent A * / A (92 percent A * / B). The percentage of D * / D grades at the Faculty was 75%.

Students envision a bright future with an exceptional range of top-notch university places secured at Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College London, King’s College London and Manchester University among other excellent UK and global universities.

QE is an excellent college (ISI 2019), known locally, nationally and internationally as a group of four schools that promotes the highest standards in everything it does. The Collegiate welcomes girls and boys from 3 months old and supports them through four schools – Chapter House (3 months to 5 years old), King’s Magna (6 to 9 years old), The College and The Faculty (both 10 to 13 years old) years).

QE also places great importance on our students becoming resilient, caring, compassionate and confident adults who develop their independence and initiative, and who can take responsibility for their own learning and future. We offer students the opportunity to participate in a range of enrichment and wider extracurricular activities to help them develop skills in leadership, teamwork and collaboration, and decision-making.

QE students have access to an impressive 150 sports and activities each week, including popular sports such as rugby, hockey, soccer, netball, cricket, swimming, basketball, rounds , tennis, dancing, gymnastics, trampoline, rock climbing, athletics, badminton, and volleyball. Our athletic team caters to all skill levels and encourages every student to make the most of all the fantastic opportunities offered during their stay here. We have a well-established mix of physical education teachers and specialist athletic trainers, many of whom are former professional athletes themselves. This means that there really is no limit to the level at which our students can train.

Health and fitness are so central to students’ school life that many continue to participate in sports and exercise, whether recreationally or as a path of study, that it continues to be a key part of their life long after they have left us for the next step in their education or career.

What allows us to offer all this sporting activity so successfully is of course the exceptional range of high quality facilities on campus. We’re quite unique in that we have a dedicated sports village that all students have access to both inside and outside of formal school hours.

The Village houses a 25-meter swimming pool, a three-court gym, a 100-station fitness room and a weight training center. Outside, we have a four lane synthetic cushion racetrack and over 30 acres of artificial grass and 3G pitches. We also have a number of specialty studios used for; martial arts, wrestling, dance, gymnastics, table tennis, cycling, archery, fencing and boxing.

On top of all this, students can use an eight-meter climbing wall at the campus activity center, which also houses an obstacle course and additional tennis courts. There really is something for all tastes and for all levels.

Care is the most important element in the QE community; each member of the College, staff and student, is responsible for the pastoral care and the happiness of the site. QE offers support and guidance to all students and parents to ensure that we are all working to meet the individual needs of students and equip them with the right skills, not only to be successful in education, but to excel in their chosen career and in life in general. Our dedicated THRIVE @ QE program offers all students a wide range of activities to support their mental health and well-being.

QE’s Hill Standard is about “being the best you can be with the gifts I have” giving every child a stepping stone to their individual successes, no matter which path they choose.

See for yourself what makes us so special on our open house on October 2nd. Visit www.qe.org for more information.
