Saint Lucia wins Caribbean-level table tennis and volleyball championships

Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia again made history by producing the first OECS player to win a singles title at the Caribbean level. Leshon Francis is coming off the U11 table tennis final 3-0. He is now the Caribbean under-11 champion.

Manie Eleuthere is now the Caribbean Under-13 champion, and Shantal Charles is now crowned the Caribbean’s best under-13 player after winning their final match 3-1, becoming Saint Lucia’s first woman and of the OECS to win a Caribbean table tennis title.

Saint Lucia fielded a men’s under-13 team consisting of three boys – Manie Eleuthera, Vernon Salvator and Leshon Francis, who won the men’s team event. Shatal Charles competed in the women’s under-13 singles.

Shatal and Manie Eleuthere reached the final in their respective categories. Meanwhile, Leshon Francis advanced to the singles final in the under-11 category. Manie Eleuthera and Leshon Francis both qualified for the semi-finals of the boys under-13 doubles. All finals will be played on Wednesday morning.

Saint Lucia volleyball team won the 2022 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association champions. They won over the British Virgin Islands in straight sets on Sunday night in St Maarten to claim victory. Offering congratulations to the team, Sports Minister Kenson Casimir claimed that the Saint Lucia team were completely dominant in the competition.

The Saint Lucia Women’s National Volleyball Team won the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Championship in Saint Maarten this weekend. Special congratulations to my former student, voter and player, Kerin Neptune, who walked away with the following awards:

1. Best outside hitter

2. Best Server

3. Best Receiver

4. Tournament Most Valuable Player

Shout out to his 758 teammates; Yoshabel, Tyna, Skye, Chenoa, Clio, Cindy, Kashima, Amilia, Gemima and Darla. Team 758, led by Kerin, beat BVI 3-0 in the final to become the top team ahead of BVI, Antigua, Grenada, St. Maarten, Anguilla and St. Eustatius.
