University sport

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Daytona State College sports teams have several games this week.

ERAU Men’s Soccer will face Palm Beach Atlantic at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 20 and Lynn at 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 23.

ERAU Volleyball faces Florida Southern at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 16.

Games are played at the ERAU Sports Complex, 601 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Daytona Beach. For more information, visit erauathletic.com/tickets.

DSC Men’s Soccer will face Eastern Florida State College at 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 16.

Regular High School Football Season

Volusia County High School football season continues.

All games are held at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 15, unless otherwise specified. The games may change, however, as the Covid-19 pandemic continues. Here is what is planned:

Surf fishing challenge

Beach Surf Fishing Challenge will be held Friday October 22 and Saturday October 23, meeting at the Lost Lagoon Wings & Grill, 2004 N. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach.

The targets will be goldfish, whiting, bluefish and pompano.

Fishermen’s meeting at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 22. The Sponsors’ Party will take place on Saturday at noon. October 23.

Table tennis challenge

The East Volusia / Flager Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host the 2021 Talk of the Town Table Tennis Challenge from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 16 at the Warner Christian Academy Gym, 1730 S. Ridgewood Ave., South Daytona.

The contest will begin at 10 am with the opening prayer and the signing of “God Bless America”.

At 10:15 a.m., South Dayona Police Chief Mark Cheatham versus Flagler Beach Police Captain Lance Blanchette.

At 11 a.m., Crossroads Church Youth Director Clayton Proctor vs. Providence Church Youth Pastor Jesse Herbruck and Chris Maiocco of Coastal Bible Fellowship vs. Jay Gibson of First Baptist Daytona Beach.

At noon, coaches vs coaches. At 1 p.m. athletes against athletes.

It’s a free event.

Memorial benefits junior golfers

The 19th Annual Jane Cerrone Memorial Golf Tournament will take place at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 13 at the LPGA International Jones Course, 1000 Champions Drive, Daytona Beach.

Registration and continental breakfast start at 7:30 a.m.

The registration fee is $ 100 per person, which includes golf, breakfast, lunch, shooting balls, special events, prizes and the tournament commemorative gift. There will be an optional 50/50 and a raffle.

The tournament will benefit the Junior Golf and First Tee programs in Volusia County.

Golf tournament for St. Judes

Pars and a Purpose Golf Tournament will take place at 8:30 am. Saturday October 23 at Crane Lakes, 1850 Crane Lakes Blvd., Port Orange.

Registration will begin at 7 a.m. The awards dinner will take place at 2 p.m. The cost is $ 100 per player or $ 400 per team. Fees include BBQ breakfast at Turn, putting green fees, course balls, two drink tickets, and the awards lunch.

There will be first, second, third and fourth place prizes and four $ 100 gift certificates closest to the pin

The Italian awards lunch will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the ballroom. Stir it Up Music Duo will perform. Lunch only is $ 30.

Profits will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Wild Florida 5K

Conservation Florida’s Wild Florida 5K will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 23 at D Ranch Preserve 2655 Reed Ellis Road, Osteen.

Participants will have a first glimpse of the magnificent 476-acre wilderness reserve before it opens to the public.
