Between them, Kerry Mramor, Hazel Fawcett and Alan Manning have accumulated months, if not years, of blocking, cutting and even giving each other setbacks, all in the name of the sport of course.

While they sound violent, the terms above are actually all used in table tennis, a sport the three of us have enjoyed playing for many years as members of the Stratford Table Tennis Club. Their many years of dedication to the sport were recognized in October, when all three were named life members of the club.

Alan says the trio join a “fairly small roster” of life members of the club, which he says was founded in the 1920s.

“The three of us have been members for over 20 years now, and we all still enjoy it, playing the games, but also on the social side.”

The club meets once a week and new members are always welcome, says Alan.

“You don’t need to know how to play, come and one of us will be happy to show you how to play and explain the rules. It’s about having fun while being a great way to keep mind and body fit and active. As it is an indoor sport it can go on all year round and we don’t have rain or problems with the ever changing weather. “
