Qin Gang, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, delivered a speech on Tuesday at the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of ping-pong diplomacy between China and the United States. Chinese and American athletes expressed their enthusiasm. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) celebrated the 50th anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy by presenting two mixed doubles players from the United States and China. During the dinner, the Chinese Table Tennis Association and representatives from the city of Houston exchanged gifts, the ITTF also announced that China and the United States will team up in the upcoming finals of the world championships table tennis 2021 in the form of a multinational team, which is the continuation of the young generation of Ping Pong Diplomacy.

“Once again, we are all witnessing the unique power of sport and how table tennis can create dialogues and foster mutual understanding,” said Steve Dainton, CEO of ITTF Group, at the ceremony in Houston. .

Former US President Richard Nixon’s grandson Christopher Nixon Cox hailed ping-pong diplomacy between China and the United States as an example of an icebreaker between different cultures.

Ambassador Qin added that, as the old Chinese saying goes, “Friendship comes before competition. China believes that win-win cooperation has always been the mainstream of Sino-US relations.
