MANILA – The Philippine Sports Commission through its Batang Pinoy (BP) and the Philippine National Games (PNG) continues its mandate of developing grassroots athletes despite the pandemic.
The two programs are expected to conduct Part 4 of a webinar series for the reimplementation of the core program.
Starting October 5, Local Government Units (LGUs) are expected to attend the webinar which will share updates on international technical sports rules.
“A joint effort between LGU and PSC will ensure that aspiring young athletes have enough time and resources to grow and reach their full potential,” PSC President William “Butch” Ramirez said in a statement. press release Saturday.
With the current trend for young athletes to break Olympic records, Ramirez said it’s time to properly manage and secure the country’s future gems.
In cooperation with National Sports Associations (NSA) and International Federation accredited technical officials from 11 different sports, the updated standard rules of the sports that can be played in the games will be discussed.
The sports to be covered are: taekwondo, table tennis, chess, track and field, weight lifting, archery, karate, cycling, swimming, muaythai and arnis.
The North Luzon cluster participants will be the first group to complete the training and each LGU can send three representatives for said webinar per sport. (RP)
