The Indian women’s team will face Germany in their second hockey match at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Games.
India got off to a winning start on Day 3 of the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games as Bhavani Devi, the first Indian fencer to qualify for the Olympics, beat Tunisian Nadia Azizi 15-3 in the individual saber event women but failed to defeat world number 4 Manon Brunet of France in the round of 16.

The Indian men’s archery team are withdrawing from the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after losing their quarter-final match to Korea. Earlier, the men’s archery team won their Round of 16 playoff 6-2 against Kazakhstan. Meanwhile, Chirag and Satwiksairaj’s pair of doubles lost their second match against the seeded Indonesian pair.
Paddler Manika Batra is said to be looking to make table tennis history, when she takes on Austria’s Sofia Polcanova around 1:00 p.m. IST today.
Experienced Indian paddler Sharath Kamal won his men’s singles match (2-11, 11-8, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-9) against Portuguese Tiago Apolonia and advance to the next round. He will play against one of the greats of table tennis, Chinese Ma Long in his next match.
